Sewing-17" Jointed Teddy Bear"-Iowa City
Shields Sewing Center, Iowa City Sewing Class
-"Create a 17" Jointed Teddy Bear" Saturday November 22, 2008 from 10am-4pm (with an hour break from 12pm-1pm for lunch).

Create a 17" Jointed Teddy Bear that will capture your heart! We will begin by discussing the technique for cutting out bear fur (this one will be cut out for you and ready to sew) . We will then sew the body parts together and stuff the arms, legs, and head. Now the fun begins!! We will attach shoe button eyes, a nose, and embroider our bear a mouth. Lastly we will attach the arms, legs, and head using plastic pop joints and stuff the bear's body. We'll even add a bow to the bear's neck to get him into the holiday spirit!

You will need to bring your sewing machine with all attachments and the manual, a basic sewing kit (sewing scissors, seam ripper, hem gauge, pins with heads, tape measure, pin cushion, and marking pen), empty bobbins, and brown Mettler thread (available at Shields Sewing).  Cost for this class is $50 which includes all materials to make your bear, the pattern, and written instructions. $20 non-refundable deposit due when signing up for the class.
