Shields Sewing Center is very excited to announce the next Embroidery Club class, Anita Goodesign's Victorian Roses!! Victorian Roses is a 36 block embroidered wall quilt done in the embroidery hoop (pictures attached). All the blocks are applique with embroidery. The quilt is then layered, quilted, and bound traditionally. So, if you've always wanted to quilt and have an embroidery machine, this is the class for you!
The Victorian Roses class will meet once a month for 4 months. The first 3 months you will learn to complete the blocks in each of 3 sections of the quilt. The 1st block of each section will be sewn in the class. You will then be assigned additional blocks to make on your own before the next month. There are 12 different blocks in the quilt (2 or 4 each=36 blocks total). The final class will be assembly, quilting, and binding instruction.
Following is the Victorian Roses schedule:

You will have the choice of 3 rose colors, Red, Pink, or Peach and 4 different size blocks (5", 6", 7" or 8") when you sign up. Fabric kits will be available for about $25. You will also need muslin as a base fabric. These can both be purchased from Ben Franklin (fabric kits $25, muslin $8-$16 depending on size) or you may bring your own. Floriani thread and stabilizer kits will be available from Shields Sewing and are $44 for the threads and $30 for the stabilizer. You might have some of the Floriani threads and stabilizers already, so you will receive more information about the materials when you sign up.
Each month you will need to bring your sewing/embroidery machine with the appropriate size embroidery hoop, a basic sewing kit including sharp embroidery scissors and applique scissors, the fabric, muslin, and stabilizer, embroidery bobbin thread or pre-wound bobbins, several empty bobbins, and your Brother rewritable card for design transfer.
